How long do you want to ignore this user?
So I'm looking to buy a house Q1 next year probably. I've got a good chunk of that down payment money sitting in my brokerage account in short term treasury bonds/money market funds. I was wondering if anybody had good ideas for a conservative investment (I want to be very risk-averse with down payment money) that yields better than short term treasury bonds - because it is a sizable amount of money (obviously).

I'm already well exposed to the market via ETFs and individual stocks.

I just went through the same dilemma. Ended up putting mine in a combination of 6-month CD (2% APY) and online savings account (1.65%) at Ally. Not huge but at least it's earning something while liquid.

Yeah don't do this. As far as short term investments that preserve all of your capital with minimal risk, money market, treasuries, or some sort of CD are really your only options

I'm in the same boat and I'm in the process of moving the money to a Marcus 12 month CD. Best I could find.

Discover Bank is paying a $150 bonus if you deposit at least 15K in a new savings account (or $200 for 25K) on top of the 1.65% interest.

I'd look awfully hard at buying a house now and locking in a mortgage rate at current levels.

Marcus by Goldman Sachs savings accounts are currently at 1.8%

CDs are a options but I like the flexibility with the regular account in case you want to buy earlier.
