In search of some advice or legal help setting up and filing documents. I'm reading some books on the topic now and seems easy, but there's got to be some pitfalls that exist and I want to avoid them.

Any one have some recommendations (hopefully in the Woodlands/Spring area)?

My business would be primarily for holding and leasing real estate.

PM The Wonderer. He took care of mine. Easier to just have a lawyer do it and not worry about it.

I have an LLC for holding properties and an S-corp for the management and development company. Of course, every decision should be made on your own personal, financial and tax goals, including the state of residence, etc.

Agreeing with above, the best structure will be what your tax attorney recommends. This is the only way to make this decision.

In order to better familiarize yourself with the various structures available, go online and search...there are a million articles on it. Nearly all will tell you one is better than the other, but read them just to understand the different advantages each brings and then tailor it to your situation.

Good luck!
The trouble with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money.

S-corp is a tax election; it is not a legal entity type.

LLCs can choose s Corp status treatment. Most people in real estate set up LLCs as they are flexible and can do most anything you need

Can send me your contact info. I was actually just getting ready to set up an LLC online. Would prefer to discuss with a good Ag lawyer.
