State comptrollers office question: someone told me that it's public record what a business paid in sales tax last year. If that's true, how would I find that information out about a certain business? Anyone have any idea?

I have not looked myself but have previously been told information for specific businesses was not public as it would be too easy to back into revenue data for competitors.
