How long do you want to ignore this user?
Wife is pregnant and will have short-term disability while on leave. She does not plan to continue working for her current company and will instead work closer to home. If she informed her employer of this decision while still on disability, could that terminate her disability policy if they consider that quitting?

I told her she should just wait until she's done with disability to be safe but she wanted me to ask the great minds of Texags and I think she also feels bad giving them such short notice.

Just went through the same thing. Twins and daycare would've eaten too much up and we can afford for her to stay home. Wife put in her 2 weeks notice with 2 weeks left of her disability claim. Employer was fine with it, and says it's quite common for that to happen. They paid until the end of the 2 weeks, and that was it

the employer has a right to notify the short term provider to stop payments immediately if you tell them that you are not intending to return.

Have an employee in my org that's pregnant and informed her manager she doesn't intend to return after the pregnancy and was planning to resign. We coached her not to resign until after the six weeks of paid maternity leave she's earned. But we also appreciate the informal heads up and can start planning now how to replace her once she officially resigns. Technically, our company policy would have denied paid maternity leave if she resigned before delivering the baby.
