How long do you want to ignore this user?

Howdy Ags!

I just wanted your thoughts about our tax situation.

My wife and I usually fill our taxes through TaxAct and we've been pleased with how easy it was to use.

However, this past year we purchased a home, made some renovations, had a son, my wife took college courses, and we made sizable contributions to our church and charities.

We're not rich by any means, but we're notorious savers.

We started filling out our tax form on TaxAct but wondered if we would be better served with a professional to oversee our taxes this year - just so we don't miss out on anything important.

Or is our situation not a big deal and TaxAct will suffice?

Any thoughts or advice would be appreciated.

Thank you for your time.

Tax Act should be able to handle your return just fine.

Those are all pretty standard things, so TaxAct should be fine. Make sure you keep record of your home renovations - they may not be deductible now, but may be includable in your home's basis when you sell it.

You will want a professional when your investments or other income streams get complicated. Real estate, stock ownership outside of mutual funds, self employment, etc.
