spend less day to day, I know easier said than done but I plan to make some life changes that will help.
really want to get to 750K nw. about a 20% increase from today.
hopefully the former allows me to sock some cash away for future investments into real estate.

Payoff my mortgage. It would require me to extent an overseas assignment about 9 months longer than I'd really like but has the obvious benefit of a paid for house + a good chunk of cash when I return to the states.

My goal is:

1. $15k in checking account.
2. $35k in a Fixed Deposit or something that is reasonably liquid, risk-free, and makes decent interest.
3. Anything above will go towards Principal on my home mortgage.

We are close to that goal already but need to get there.

My wife and I make good money and we both want to upgrade our jobs and make 15-20% more each.

Cut down on eating/going out spending. It's obviously a lifestyle choice, but I believe it can be reigned in.

Get my wife's business in to a cash producing machine.

Similar to others...make some lifestyle changes to be more disciplined with routine expenditures. I would like to free up some of our monthly cash flow and redirect it to our brokerage account.

Save as much money as possible so I can retire when I am unable to work, so I don't have to rely on SSDI and the government if I don't have to.

This doesn't mean living like a lol poor or a frugal mom type, but still living comfortably

Pay off the reaming balances on both my ATM and law school loans by April. After that, our only debt will be our mortgage.

I'm a lol poor teacher so take the goals for what they are worth.

Have enough to pay cash for next vehicle when needed. About 5k to go.

Continue to save for down payment on first rental property. Takes quite a bit in the Austin area where 150k gets you a dump in most areas if it even exists.

Keeping it very simple and pretty modest this year:

1) Increase overall contribution amount to 401K (want to explore the new Roth 401k option)
2) knock off 6 payments from back of mortgage
3) Continue to build up cash reserves

2016 was focused on eliminating debt ( my car and wife's student loan completely paid off) so things "should" set up nicely to accomplish these goals.

My goal is to spend more than I make this year. I'm already off to a hot start. Let's see if I can keep it going.

Also, I want to maintain no debt outside of a pending mortgage.

I'm also looking to increase passive income [dividends, cattle, rental property] to $45K a year with goal of increasing to 125K by 2020.

3. Increase net worth to $600k (about 33% more than now).

2016: Bought first house

2017: Really bump up the retirement savings now that we're more financially stable. Max HSA, max wife's Roth IRA, then contribute about 17% of both gross salaries to Roth 401k for myself and Traditional 401k for my wife.

Longer term goal is $1m in retirement assets by 35. We'll need to continue to increase contributions to get there but I think it's doable.
