Looking to do a Caribbean resort with the family for the first time this summer. Saw on the news that the seaweed will be particularly bad this year so I would like to target locales where the beaches will be protected.

Any recommendations?

well apparently it will hit bad the florida gulf coast and the carribean so u maybe sol for the caribean....your best bet for decent beaches maybe east coast of FL or the carolina beaches to escape the wrath of the sargassum seaweed attack

Sadly I don't think anywhere is immune.

I've never had complaints in Jamaica. I know it hits the DR but never had any complaints there either.

Beaches Turks and Caicos.
Moon Palace Jamaica (beach area is small but it's in a cove).
Negril has great beaches.
Bahamas but not all-inclusive.

Puerto Vallarta doesn't have seaweed but the water is more of the color of Galveston and not bright blue.

We went to Punta Cana last summer. Tons of seaweed. Didn't ruin the trip at all… and we'd go back to Ziva Cap Cana tomorrow

But there were piles of seaweed.

That said - Ziva Cap Cana blows away the other ziva/zilaras. Not even close.

Thanks for the suggestions. I will check out Aruba and see what might fit what we are looking for.

Just be aware - aruba is more of a desert like climate. Some like that, some don't (and envision a humid/tropical climate on their beach trip).

St Martin.

Don't think I've seen seaweed there in all the times I've gone...on any of the beaches.

Things can drastically change from day to day for seaweed even in the same country. For instance last week I was at Finest Playa Mujeres with very little seaweed but then moved along to Dreams Riviera Cancun and a world of difference.
We most certainly can not predict Mother Nature but it might be wise to look at
Turks and Caicos
Negril
Certain Mexico properties

We were in Anguilla last June and didn't see any either.

When we were in Cancun last month (and there was plenty at the JW Marriott) the locals said to stay above Ziva where there is some shelter from the currents. Cozumel's western shore (facing Playa del Carmen) was also sheltered when we were there last July during a cruise to snorkel; no great resort beaches there from what I gathered but there are some awesome sandy beaches accessible by boat towards the southern end.

Seems to be hit or miss. St. Thomas in 2018 was bad but in 2022 we didn't see it at all. Belize was bad in 2021.
