My wife and I got married in March right before everything was shut down. We were initially scheduled to go to Hawaii (Kauai and Maui) in July, but obviously that didn't happen. We are now trying to squeeze in a make up trip in a couple months. We can't really put it off much later than October, as she is pregnant as well (Due late Jan). Do y'all think Hawaii is too risky, as they may extend the travel restrictions? That would still likely be our preference. If not, any other suggestions for a honeymoon/babymoon?

I realize this isn't helpful but man...y'all must have been in a real hurry to get knocked up.

Hawaii is still not an option man, I'd do that trip for an anniversary, don't mess around with that.

What about Tahoe? Although by late October, it's getting pretty chilly.
If you're wanting a beach vacation, I'd probably opt for Florida.

Congrats on the baby. My wife and I dove in just like you did, no regrets.

I would suggest Rosemary Beach. We went the first week in November and were able to sit on the beach. Water was chilly so we didn't get in but the beach was practically empty. Depending on when you go in October you can probably get in the water. Restaurants were easy to get into and riding bikes around was fun. Easy 20 minute drive from ECP.

Late October is tough. We were supposed to do Hawaii/Kauai first week of September for our honeymoon, but are doing park city instead since we can drive.

I'd strongly debate on waiting and doing an anniversary trip and get a week without the young kid.

That will be more enjoyable than what you can do in October between weather, COVID, "activities", and her pregnancy.

I'll add a vote for Rosemary. The Pearl is fantastic for a couple trip and I've heard that October is a good time to be there.

Daughter and son-in-law (both with Masters from A & M, by the way), live on Oahu. Based on what they are saying, I would not risk it. Restrictions keep getting extended.

We travel a lot, and happy to offer suggestions. Beach or mountains? And I assume within the US?

Thanks for the suggestions. We are more beach people than mountain people (plus we are going to Colorado in September so that should be out of our systems). I'm sure it's probably best to stay within the US right now due to COVID, but we aren't committed to any particular idea yet.

What do y'all think about the Florida Keys or Bahamas?

One option you probably aren't thinking about... South Padre Island. I know, makes you think of crazy spring break, but I took my family there last year in October for fall break and was pleasantly surprised. Weather was absolutely perfect, water was still warm enough to get in, beaches are quiet, condos are DIRT cheap that time of year. Plenty to do, and it might be an easier trip for your pregnant wife.

Have you thought about Aruba? They are open with a COVID test, and I think you have to take a rapid test when you get there (which basically means you sit at your hotel for a few hours). Great beaches, good food, clear water. The Ritz there is very nice, and sits at the end of the hotel row so its beach isn't crowded. We really enjoyed it.

Aruba would be interesting. Sounds like several of the Caribbean islands are now open with similar precautions.

The beaches in the Bahamas are awesome. I would avoid the Keys if you're looking for good beaches.

Ritz website. The water pics are accurate for how clear and blue the water is. There is also a small, but nice, casino at the hotel

Maybe not as exotic as the Caribbean, but October in New England is pretty spectacular.

Fly into Boston and rent a car. Go to Maine, New Hampshire and Vermont.
