Anyone been there recently? Was thinking about a 2-3 night weekend trip this weekend and didn't know how things were.

We stayed one night on our way back from Florida about 4 weeks ago. There was stuff going on but not nearly as vibrant as NOLA should be. What are you wanting to do there?

The WWII museum is open and several swamp tour outfits are open. I think the aquarium is open too.

New Orleans in August is brutal. The old little hotels the ladies like never have enough air conditioning. The bars down in the quarter are open air with a splash of ac. The pools are all about 95 degrees from a long summer in the sun. Go to LDL or the Nuggett. If you have to go to NOLA, stay at the big Marriott. It was built in the last 50 years or so, so it was actually designed for ac.

Ended up not going. Thanks for the tips.

Mostly would have been about food, drinks and maybe a little casino - just a change of scenery.

Instead we booked through Hotwire ($69 per night) at the Marriott Waterway in The Woodlands. Spent the saved money at Total Wine and hit up some nice restaurants - classy!

Would have gone to Lost Pines or similar, but everything was sold out.

You made the right call of not visiting Mew Orleans now. The bars and music scene here is practically shut down. To-go alcohol sales are banned as well. Some restaurants are still closed. The ones still open are limited and still trying to cater to a customer base that is more take-out than dine in. The Coolinary promotional deals are going on now, but only about 20% of the restaurants are participating.

New Orleans leadership is doing the best job imaginable of limiting tourism - trying to keep CoVID carriers from traveling into the city. All fall festivals are already cancelled.
