Traveling to Paris for thanksgiving. Will be there 5 days. Will do the normal tourist stuff, just wondering if anyone has any non-traditional Paris stuff to do. Cool food tours. Off the beaten path stores. Bars. Etc.

Traveling just myself and one other person. No children.

Go to The Moose bar to watch some football. Great Canadian sports bar just a short walk from Notre Dame.

Take a day trip to Normandy Beach and get a guided tour. Long day, but surreal.

Also, following since we are going back next Fall.

Le Marais (the Jewish Quarter) was an interesting area.

You could always go and see Jim Morrison's grave.

There's a cool English pub at the corner of Rue de L'Arcade and Rue des Mathurins called the Cricketer. If Ksenia is working, tell her Eric said hi.

I agree with Le Petit Cler. That's pretty cool.

When we went years ago the catacombs were off the radar but I'm not sure that's the case any more.

If you are thinking about buying any shirts or other souvenirs, head towards The Sacre Coeur. Prices are A LOT cheaper than they are in Paris proper,

Sacre Coeur is in Paris proper...It's in the 18th Arrondissemont.

Now, I WILL say, that if you go to SC on the metro, get off on the Lamarck - Caulaincourt (IIRC) stop. It's up on top of the hill, too and you walk DOWN to SC. The metro stops south of SC require a big ****ing hike to get up there.

I learned that lesson the last time we were there.

We did a speed tour of Paris. We worked all day, then caught the RER in from close CDG where we were staying.

Then we saw SC, the Arc de Triumphe, the Eiffel Tower, and Notre Dame in the span of a couple hours. Easy to do if you navigate the metro well.

But, our first stop was at what looked like the closest stop to SC...well, yeah...on a completely flat earth it would have been. But, it was also WAAAAAYYYY TF down the hill...My bad.

Wow. That's a shame. I bet even in ruins it would have a degree of beauty.
