We're planning on 2.5-3 days in Yosemite in late July as part of a larger CA trip with our two girls ages 6 and almost 4. What suggestions do y'all have about what things we can't miss in the park and where we should stay? Thanks.

Should have already booked lodging.

Mist trail. Glacier point. Cathedral lakes.

typically you have to be careful going at certain times because the waterfalls dry up. the time youre planning on going may not be the best time to visit yosemite.

So early you can see snow capped mountains and huge falls. But you can't hike as high because there is still snow.

Later the falls get smaller but there are wildflowers and the entire park is open. Really the only choice is to visit multiple times!

Most waterfalls will probably be gone by late July. It's still an awesome place to visit. Tons of things to do. Toulomne Meadows should be nice by then. And it's quieter than the valley floor.

And I agree that rooms should have been booked a while back...but...I love Curry Village and there are usually tents available there (or some will pop up as people cancel more often than other lodging options). My kid loves to swim there, albeit the water is cool, and he loves scampering around the small boulders.

Waterfalls should still be there this July. The Yosemite high country had around 700 inches of snow this year and they are currently dealing with flooding issues in the valley. We actually got about 20 inches of snow in the last 24 hours.

July is pretty damn hot in Yosemite Valley. You will want to head up to Tuolumne Meadows area to avoid the crowds and heat.

OP, you can probably still get campgrounds and/or a hotel room at the Tioga Pass Resort. The TPR is notoriously bad at answering the phone so if stay on them they often have rooms/yurts available long after everything else is booked up.

Also when they get a little older you should check out the High Sierra Camp ( https://www.travelyosemite.com/lodging/high-sierra-camps/) It's closed this year due to excessive snow but they are tent cabins with meal provided. So if you want to do a backpacking or horse packing trip into the backcountry but don't want to carry the heavy packs it's a great way to go.

some great places already mentioned - here's a plan you can consider for a day

- Drive from Park Entrance to Tuolumne Meadows Visitor Center and the Yosemite High Country hiking area. On the way...
o 1 hour to Olmsted Point (view of half dome) mile hike awesome!
o 3 minutes to Tenaya Lake - just walk to it and relax... don't walk the 2.5 mile loop around
o 15 minutes to Tuolumne Meadows Visitor Center many options to look and hike
o 25 minutes back to May Lake hike 3 miles round trip 3 hours - DON'T MISS!

- Drive an hour back to the Valley
o Stop by Bridalvail Falls short hike nice don't miss since it doesn't take long.
o Drive past El Capitan see climbers going up
o Mountain Room Restaurant 209-372-1403 is a good spot for dinner great outdoor views

- Drive to Inspiration Point check it out at sunrise DON'T MISS SUNRISE AMAZING!
- Drive 1 hour to Glacier Point. Stop at Washburn Point on the way up.
- Dinner at the Ahwahnee Hotel in Yosemite Village 5 Star beautiful! (Great breakfast brunch also!)
