What part of town are you staying? High end, mid, low?

Staying in uptown. Looked at checking out Bones Steakhouse

We love Decatur. Lot's of great places to choose from, small town atmosphere and only 15-20 minutes away from most areas inside the perimeter.

Been in Atlanta 10+ years. If you're coming from Texas, all the steakhouses will disappoint - Bones, Chops, Rathbuns, Hal's. I go to Marcel's.

Craft beer? Scofflaw, brickstore pub, wrecking bar
Bourbon? Local 3, Wrecking bar, Sprig, Southern Gentleman
Southern cooking? Mary Mack's Tea Room
Seafood? Atlanta Fish Market, Kimball House (oysters), The optimist,
Pizza? Antico (it's truly amazing)
Ice Cream? Jake's or Jenny's

Two Urban Licks is good. Other just good places: Cooks and Soldiers, King and Duke.

What part of town?

All the locals will say the Varsity (it's low, low end).

Bones over-salts their steaks IMO if you end up there.

Two Urban Licks is good. I've always liked South City Kitchen in midtown. I wouldn't venture to The Varsity unless you have a cast iron stomach and a change of underwear, though.

If you want to venture out from Buckhead just a little, Canoe is on the Chattahoochee and I think it's one of the best meals in the city. Very "Atlanta." You'll want to Uber there, then back to Buckhead or Midtown or wherever for drinks/nightlife afterwards...
