Costco has a black Kirkland roller for pretty cheap. Think it's under $100. I have one and beat the snot out of it. Great bag.

cheapest and lightest one you can find. Cheap because you don't really care about the quality (if price == quality) since you'll most likely not have to subject those bags through the wrath of luggage handlers... and lightest - well, duh.... not all bags are created equal... but the lighter one the better.
Nothing escapes the wrath of luggage handlers. Trust me, I know.......

The $50.00 carry on hard cases you get from Ross or TJ Maxx are just as good as the $300 ones. If your'e just looking for a standard 22x14x9 carry on.

I suggested earlier the world's best carry on bag but if price is an issue this is all you need right here:

Osprey Ozone. Super light weight. Have traveled all over the world with it. Has been a workhorse.

I second eBags. I can pack for a week plus, no problem, and still fit the bag under the seat in front of me if necessary.

I'll echo the couple of suggestions for Tumi. I know they're expensive but at some point buying quality really pays off. I invested in a set when I started traveling ~100 nights/year for work 5 years ago and I'm so happy I did.

I carry the Tumi Vapor International carry-on. It's super lightweight, fits domestic & international size requirements, and holds more than you'd think. For longer trips, I use Eagle Creek packing cubes inside the Tumi carry-on. I can easily travel for 6-7 days with that setup.

I bought mine at a Tumi outlet for about half the list price and it came with the same warranty as new...although I still haven't had any issues that require warranty or repair.

Lots of folks plugging Away bags. Just kind of crazy to pay $300 for a semi-hard hell with a usb power bank built in/ejectable.

Do you have to take the battery out to carry it on?

I got the ebags hard sided 22x14x9 and will be giving it a go this weekend for the first time. Replacing my soft sided luggage because 1) hard-sided is lighter and 2) I tend to over pack the soft sided because I can and then have a hard time cramming it into overhead bin.

It looks like a power bank (10k-20k mah). I'd be surprised if it's an issue.
