GF has a work convention in Vegas next month, and SO's are allowed to go. She has conventions for 2 1/2 days during the week, so I need recommendations on things to do 1) by myself, and 2) together. We are going up a day early and staying a day later so we have a little more time.

This will be my second time, but we didn't have a lot of time to do stuff the first time we were there. We're going to take a day and go to the Grand Canyon, so any advice on that would be appreciated. I was planning to rent a car and drive there from Vegas.

She booked something for me one day while she's in meetings where I go drive a race truck, so I need to fill up about another day and a half. Anyone been to one of those ranges where you can shoot a .50 cal?

We will also be there for Valentine's Day, so any recommendations on a nice place for dinner or something would be helpful too.

1. Get Tickets for Absinthe - show at Caesar's outside in the tent
2. Red Rock is not the Grand Canyon, it is basically State Park consisting of Red Rock Canyon just on the outskirts Las Vegas. Area is very scenic and feels very un-Vegas Like. Several spas in area

Rao's in Caesars would be good spot for dinner. I also like Joe's Steak & Seafood out in the Forum Shops.

"O" is jaw-dropping. Go see it. Absinthe is also very good.

My personal favorite place to gamble is Aria. Cleanest casino imo and you'll always have a drink in your hand.

There are world-class restaurants everywhere you go. Just do a little research beforehand based on what you like and you'll find something great.

Grand Canyon is an incredible experience, but I'm not sure if it's a day-trip kinda thing to be honest. However! There are helicopter tours of the Grand Canyon from Vegas you should check out.

I would highly recommend going to see the Hoover Dam and take a tour. Very close to Vegas. It's one of the most, if not the most, impressive feats of engineering I've ever seen.

Rent some fancy cars at the track for $250 and beat the **** out of them. Go ATVing in the Nellis dunes.

Second Absinthe and O.

Go to the Carnival Court near Harrah's to sit outside, listen to live music and enjoy the performing bartenders.

Another vote for Absinthe.

I'm there a decent amount with my wife while she has a convention (2-3 times a year). I never do anything but catch up on sleep or a little bit of work, gamble, or walk the strip while she's working. It'll surprise you how much time you can kill by walking the strip and stopping in casino's to gamble....

Things to do alone: craps and blackjack...in that order.

Things to do together: sex and sex...in that order.

I'm headed there tomorrow. Same thing. Wife is doing sales meeting, so I'm on my own tomorrow afternoon and maybe evening, all day Thursday, and Friday morning.

Going to see Absinthe Thursday night, Chicago (the band) Friday night, and Raiding the Rock Vault Saturday night.

Absinthe is a must-see.

Do not under any circumstances see "KA". It is the most boring and utter waste of time and money in Vegas.

Absinthe is great.

KA is an amazing show. Seen it twice.

Absinthe was awesome! I laughed my ass off!!!

Yes, it's crude (very) and inappropriate (very) and offensive. But it's equally offensive to everyone - blacks, whites, Asians, gays, Republicans. Suggestive but surprisingly little nudity.

My favorite Vegas show so far.

Take a drive to Hoover Dam. I had been to Vegas probably 8 times before I ever went. You won't regret it. Neon Boneyard is interesting.
