I just pulled up flights and hotels for Vegas in mid-December and was stunned at how cheap they were.

$150 +/- round trip from Dallas.
Stay on the strip for $30 a night (granted Excalibur and Ballys...but still!)

This was for a Tue-Fri stay, and I know mid-week is way cheaper than weekends. But still, that's well below what I expected.

Has business dropped off that much after the shooting, or is this somewhat normal for that time of year/week?

Are show tickets "on sale" now also?

None. Vegas is popular. Mid week is cheaper than weekend.

Mid December isn't convention season and in between holiday periods. Also figure in resort fees of $20 or so a day. If you don't care about the room quality or amenities then do it.

Seems similar to when I was pricing it last year. Ended up going in January. Also very cheap.

The airport actually set a record for number of people arriving in October. Prices this time a year are always a bargain... especially in the weeks between the end of the National Finals Rodeo and New Years week as it's usually a slower period of time and they're trying to entice people out there.

Vegas mid-December and mid week is like... the most unpeaky Vegas time ever. Pricing seems about right.

Head to Vegas Tuesday through Friday of this week. Lots of deals available. You do have to pay $25-$35 per day in resort fees for all strip and casino hotels. Transportation is the killer though, taxes, monorail, Uber, etc if you don't want to walk a lot or you want to get off the strip. You can find shuttles but you have to work at it.
