Thinking about taking the wife on a 2 or 3 day short trip to the SF area Thanksgiving week. Thought about maybe heading down to Monterrey or possibly east towards the mountains. Neither of us have been to that area. Anybody have any suggestions on what to see or where to stay?

we stayed at The Mark Hopkins Hotel and loved it. Super great location!

-visit Chinatown
-ride a cable car
-go to the Top of the Mark
-walk around Fisherman's Wharf
-Alcatraz Island
-Pier 39
-Lombard Street
-Drive Hwy 1
-Stop at local fruit stands and eat fruit

We drove to Monterey and loved it!!! You must eat breakfast at LouLous's. <3 Walk around Cannery Row. Drive thru Pebble Beach, have lunch at the golf course, and stop at Carmel By The Sea (super cute beach town)....those are just a few ideas/suggestions.

The embarcadero ferry building farmers market has some insanely good stuff. Cowgirl Creamery had some of the best mac and cheese. There's also a meat butchery/jerky/sausage place that's good.
