Looking for somewhere to car camp with kids, any recommendations?

There are several campgrounds around lake Georgetown. Pedernalas state park is not a far drive.

Pedernales Falls State Park was our favorite. Kids can fish, swim, hike and moutainbike.

what activities are you looking at in addition to just sleeping in a tent?

There are A LOT of options around Austin, but some cater to different activities.

Inks lake is great for camping.

Reminds me of the old days before the camping ban in Austin.

We are also looking for somewhere in the Austin area. Know of any locations north of Austin? We are coming from Dallas and would like to minimize the drive if possible.

Going for a weekend in mid November with kids ranging from 2 to 8 and some novice adult campers. Don't need anything special except pretty scenery and nearby bathrooms.
