My wife gave me a long weekend in Fredericksburg with her in 2 weeks away from the kids. We'll be there Friday morning through Sunday afternoon. What are some fun things to do and good places to eat?

Go to Luckenbach for a short visit and beer.

Hike Enchanted Rock First thing in the morning on Saturday.

Go visit a couple of vineyards then before you go out for the night go have a drink at the "Officer's Club" at the Hangar Hotel. Very cool.

Have dinner then go listen to live music at one of the bars in town.

If you are up for it go for a swim wherever you are staying.

Have a great breakfast. Go visit the Pacific museum if you have enough time. Go home.

Recommend drinking too much & staying at Pecan St Brewing in Johnson City way too long. Order a schnitzel before the kitchen closes & listed to zydeco until they kick you out. There's a Best Western up the street.

In Laws live there so we go a lot. Some sold recs above. A few additional thoughts:

German food - I'd recommend Der Lindenbaum over Auslander. It is small but the food is usually better. Edit: based on recent reviews they only take AmEx or Discover, so if you want to use Visa or MC you may strike this one.

Peaches - you've got to get peaches while you're there. This wasn't a great year due to warm winter, but some of the stands east of town should still have some if you get out there early.

Enchanted Rock is great, but get out there early or not at all. I believe the temps were 120+ on the dome rock in the afternoon last week.

William Chris makes the best wine in Texas.

Vaudeville Supper Club was one of the top 5 meals we've ever had anywhere. I am shocked to say that but it was incredible. We still talk about it. Doubt you can get in two weeks out but you need to try.

Ben Calais is an interesting dude. He's French and was actually based in Deep Ellum up until a couple of years ago. We were in his wine club here in Dallas. He moved to Fredericksburg since that is now the center of Texas winemaking.

For German food, I recommend Friedhelm's Bavarian Inn. It is at the northern edge of the city, so it is never that crowded. My great Aunt (Fredericksburg native) turned me on to it and I haven't gone to any other since.

Also, I would recommend stopping by Pontotoc's tasting room on Main Street. I really enjoyed it's "Weingarten" vibe. It's vineyard is up past Mason so the tasting room is a great way to try their wine.

There are several tasting rooms around town now (Compass Rose, Lost Draw, Grape Creek, etc), so you don't have to drive out to actually visit the wineries if it is too hot or you don't want the trouble.

The only thing around I didn't see mentioned was watching the bats leave out of Old Tunnel State Park. That can be pretty cool and Alamo Springs Caf (one of the best burgers I have ever had) is right there.

Also recommend Pontotoc and we liked Narrow Spaces (?) tasting room on Main. Name isn't right on that second one but it's something like that.

If Alamo Springs is the place south of Fredericksburg kind of in the middle of nowhere that burger is awesome. It also won best burger in Texas one year by Texas Monthly.
