Anyone have any experience here? I'm thinking about stopping in for a night on a road trip.

Do it! We went there all the time as a kid.

Cool old ghost mining town. Some really neat buildings. You can gamble at all of them in a day,

We were always in the family RV and would stay at the hospitality house which was an old hospital I believe (like 1800s hospital)

I remember going there after a family vacation to Rocky Mountain National Park when I was like 11 or 12 (early to mid-90's) because my Pops wanted to gamble a little before we drove back to Texas. I remember us driving down like a 10-15 miles dirt road to get there from wherever we were coming from. Guessing that's not the case anymore.

It's still very much in the middle of nowhere.

Only been to Cripple Creek once to check out the train, but I'd never suggest anyone stopping for an entire night to gamble. Plenty of more worthwhile stops in CO unless you've gotta get your fix in.

I think there are much cooler places to see and things to do in the area than go to Cripple Creek to gamble. I don't think it is going to live up to what you think it is going to be

It's possible you came up Phantom Canyon from the Arkansas River and US 50. We borrowed my Dad's small motorhome one year in the 80s and somehow wound up on that road, despite the signs about the narrow roads, tunnels and switchbacks. Almost didn't make it. I think it's still that way.
