Honestly, we've explored casinos during the day. Each one has so much to see that you can spend multiple days doing just that.

We tried driving to Grand Canyon (the national park) and it was covered in fog the entire day. You could also rent a sports car and drive that around.

Siegfried and Roy's Secret Garden and Dolphin habitat is awesome too. They feed the dolphins every 30 minutes or so, and put on a little bit of a show. A tickets is good for in and out all day, and they've had a big cats exhibit out there too.

Go to the Carnaval next to Harrah's I believe. Free outdoor music venue and entertaining bar tenders.

I don't think Carnival Court is open until night.

If you've never been, just walking the Strip and popping in and out of the different casinos will take all day. As others have said there are pools and some dayclubs. If you're downtown the Mob Museum and the Neon Museum both get good reviews although I haven't found the time to hit them yet.

I always take an afternoon and go over to the Double Down Saloon (a punk rock dive bar over by UNLV). Their weekday happy hour is tough to beat - $3 everything from noon to 5 p.m. M-F. It's an interesting mix of characters but always fun (for me anyway).

You can pretty much do everything during the day you do at night, except overpay for a bottle of booze and have oontz oontz oontz music blasted into your ears.

Top Golf has been a hit since it opened. If you're with a group it's a cheap, fun way to spend an hour or two. The prices for the golf bay are per hour so depending on how many ways you're splitting it, it can be a really good deal. The rates change through the day, mornings being cheaper and go up from there. Again, uber/cab there or there's a free shuttle that leaves from the lobby of MGM Grand. (Top Golf is behind the MGM)

If you're into hiking or nature check out Valley of Fire state park. About 45 minutes from the strip, but awesome colors and rock formations. Looks like an alien planet.

I enjoy the Piano Lounge at the Bellagio during the day....glass of nice wine and excellent piano music is a great way to spend part of an afternoon in Las Vegas.

See if any shows have an afternoon time (usually Saturdays have some).

Go eat an awesome lunch!

I did both the Hoover Dam and the Grand Canyon tours via the bus tours that operate in town. They picked you up at the hotels and dropped you off at the end of the day. Only downside to the Grand Canyon tour was it picked you up at 6am and dropped you off at midnight.

We rented a car, but it makes for a long day. Depends on your budget I guess. Some of the tour companies will do it for a couple hundred bucks per person, I think GreyLine may do it for around $100/pp, and you can get a helicopter tour for around 400-500.

Want to say the Hoover Dam tour was around 59-69$ and the Grand Canyon tour was $129?

One time we got into town a day early for meetings, and my co-worker scuba dove the shark reef at Mandalay. She said it was pretty awesome, and I had a good time with her as we got a behind the scenes tour and stuff. I think it was pretty pricey though.

You also see ads all over for going out to shoot automatic weapons, which I think would be pretty fun but also I'm sure is pretty expensive.

We did a helicopter tour of hoover dam, lake mead, and grand canyon. It was fun and we even landed at the bottom of the Grand Canyon to hang out for about 30 minutes.

We used Maverick Helicopter tours and they were good. They will pick you up and drop you off where you are staying. From hotel to hotel was about 3.5 to 4 hours.

We went to the CVS and loaded up on beer. Walked the strip for great people watching, etc. Go shoot some guns too.

Carnival Court is definitely open during the day. However, the last couple of years this place has really gone downhill, which is too bad because it was a fun spot for a long time.

This is what I did. Wife was in a conference, so I rented a car and went to the dam. Took a tour. Worth doing at least once. After that I drove to RR Canyon. Trails to explore. Rocks to climb on. Real cool.

Best part is it's 100+ degrees and you don't sweat.

You sweat but it evaporates pretty much immediately therefore you don't feel as hot.

Come to think of it, there were a few bartenders around - not so many customers.
