Hello all,

Im heading to Amsterdam with a bunch of buddies in about a month. Will spend about 6 days there.

We have guide books and a couple of the guys have been more than once so we will have main tourist stuff covered.

Anyone have some "cant miss" bar, experience, or food that we need to do?

Thanks,

JR

Dont go with a plan, just show up and barhop in the inner city.

Skip the main tourist attractions outside of maybe seeing the tulips.

Did you know that Kingsday will be on April 27th?

I show up in Amsterdam that day and expect it to be a complete madhouse.

If you're into photography, the Amsterdam Photo Safari is pretty cool. A pro photographer/guide shows you the city by bicycle, tells interesting stories, and you get a photography class out of it.

Take the train from Amsterdam Central to Leiden. It's where the famous Dutch painter Rembrandt was born and the last European home of the Pilgrims before they sailed to America. It takes about 35 mins from the Dam. The train also stops in Haarlem before you get there and it's great little town to explore as well. Have a good time. I will be there Tuesday. If you have anymore questions please ask.

With 6 days there you will have plenty of time to do some cool stuff and the weather should be nice.

Oh and if you like beer don't miss the Brouwerij "t IJ. They brew their on craft beers and they are excellent. It's on the east side of Amsterdam.

Take Tram 10 to Azart Plein and get off at the Windmill. It's only open from 1400-2000. But they also sell their beers in numerous bars in Amsterdam,

FYI. Kingsday is not like it used to be. They have moved most of celebrations outside of the city center.

Go to Anne Frank's house.

Go to a place where you can have a pancake for breakfast.

Rembrandt museum and Van Gogh museums are great.

If you like heavy metal go to the Excalibur in the red light district.

Can any of you elaborate on your time in Amsterdam, late April? I've got a trip planned for 2018 and am looking for more ideas on what to expect or plan for. Thanks!
