Wife and I are heading up to Asheville for a long weekend at the end of April and we are looking for some hiking recommendations in the area. We have a day already planned for Biltmore tour and would like to have 2 or 3 hikes off the Blue Ridge Parkway or in any of the state or national parks surrounding the city. Thanks for any suggestions

Check out this book. The focus of the book is primarily on waterfalls, but almost all of the falls involve a hike and there is a good write-up about things to look for along the way. Enjoy. Make sure you have a drink on the patio of the Grove Park Inn at some point.

Have you considered taking a white water rafting trip?

We used French Broad and enjoyed it.

Bent Creek in town. Dupont near Brevard or hike up mount Mitchell from/near Black Mountain. Grandfather Mountain or Chimney Rock to the east.
