Grandma is going to watch the kids for 2 nights in Feb. The wife and I would like to keep travel time to no more than 2 hours each way. Where can we go, eat good food, maybe listen to live music, possible hike/bike??

I should have clarified that we are both from Houston area and have been to SA, Austin, Galveston, NO, many times. Looking for something a little different that we might have missed. SA, Austin, and NO are good spots, but each are going to be 2+ hours of travel each way.

Then do a staycation in the Houston "music district". Wherever the f that is.

Do you like to fish? Plenty of spots, Tiki Isle, Bayou Vista come to mind. I haven't been to the Texas City Dike in about 35 years.

How about camping? There are some good trails in the Davy Crockett National Forest.

Ever been to Round Top?

How about that new Marriott Marquis in downtown Houston with the Texas shaped pool?
It's no Marina Bay Sands but... it's within your two hour travel time.

See if the Galvez or other couple nice hotels down on the coast have some good deals that time of year.

Bump it back a few weeks and grab some rodeo tickets and a hotel on metro rail for a stay cation? Maybe mix in Galveston one night? Willie is playing 3/18.
