The Mariners are going to cool off eventually. If they don't, you can't control that. Just focus on winning each series and control what's in front of you.

It was never going to be easy - especially when guys started going down with injury.

Has there been any update on Jake? I know they said he was running on a flat surface this past weekend.

They showed a clip of him doing resistance band sprints in Florida. His hair was perfect

Ankles?

Subway?

Sumlin has lost control of the Astros lockerroom.

But I heard someone saw him run fast through many holes

The goal is just wins series and then win the series you have against them. Gotta do that today.

and it's unprecedented in the golden era of Astros baseball

blowing a 7-game division lead

for the F'ing love of god, please quit saying this………

4 starters from Opening day are not in this lineup….. 6 pitchers out. Closer out…….

this isn't a team "blowing a lead"…. Wanna blame somebody? Blame the 7-8 players from Sugar Land that kept us in it….. this is not a blown lead. My god, 2/3 of this team has been on the. DL……. Saying that we blew anything is a disgrace,

thank you for posting this in response to W. post like his are why I've been more quiet than past years on this thread.

This team has been playing its ass off to even be in this position. If you would've said this team would be in serious contention with the loss of Tucker, Bregman, and Yordan (IL), I think we all would be thrilled and shocked. That's losing your three best hitters from last years team.

Sit back and enjoy the ride and thank the AAA guys to even give you a 7 game lead to be able to afford to put the team in this position. Without that run last month this season would be completely different.

Just win 2/3 in every series against good teams and sweep the bad ones.

It's that simple.

lol it's that simple?
That would give any team a record of like 130-32 for the year.

Suarez is 4-44 with Seattle so he's contributed nothing to this streak.

Soyattle, to their credit, has taken care of business against lesser opponents. I hate saying this, but if they go on to take 4 of 6 or even split vs. NYM & Philly, they will have earned 1st place.

We don't have anyone producing like their big 3 of Doper, J-Rod & Arozarena, and even with the Sugar Land Astros, we are tied with just over a month left. We should be more than happy to sit back and let it play out.

More concerning than Seattle is how our guys look when they finally return from injury. Spaghetti has been bad. I have doubts about Jake returning to his June form after being out for an extended time. And I don't expect Yordan to contribute meaningfully until next season. That's the one that's really pissing me off…

Spencer looked fine yesterday

Minus the 4 walks in 5 innings

That needs to get cleaned up.

yes, it's a real possibility in the 4 vs. 5 matchup

the Yankees and Red Sox have 7 games remaining against one another

so the Astros will have opportunities to separate / get ahead of NYY and Boston in the league standings

Ok, fine, but 5 inning or 2 run ball from your #4 is good ball. My expectation from Spenser is 5-6 innings and 3-4 runs per game.

If the offense is there, that should win you more games than not.

I didn't get to watch the whole game but from what I saw of Spencer....he was effectively wild.

He had good stuff but was getting lucky where he was missing, IMO. The result was good acceptable, but not sure you want to test your luck with that kind of performance very often.

Should be zero excuse to not win tonight with Hunter on the mound vs Buehler.

I was watching last night on the MLB app and I saw it go from 2-0 to 5 to 8 to 10 and when I was going to bed I saw 12...

SP was doing fine. It was the bullpen that blew it. Offense didn't show up either, but if you could have held to 4 runs, I think it looks like a different loss. 12-1 vs. 4-1 hits different.

Yeah no doubt. I'll take that final line score from Spencer.

And it's not super concerning trend. Just needs to clean up the control which I have faith will come with more reps as he works back.

Thank you for saying this. This thread can be the best and worst on this website. At its worst it is a beatdown. The fact is that our Astros have been on an historic run…..not just for the history of the Astros but in the history of baseball. What they have accomplished this year with the unprecedented injuries might very well be the greatest performance yet.

Hey boys - a little break from the Astros for this post.

My nephew's little league team from Richmond won the Southwest region and play their Game 1 of the tourney tonight at 6:00pm on ESPN.

This is also cool for those boys:

Hunter pitched very well a couple weeks ago in Boston before some ump shenanigans helped them tie it up and eventually win in extras. Take the series tonight and help him get his tenth W of the season.

Having HB on the mound doesn't mean jack**** if we show up with 1 run in the bottom of the 9th as our only scoring again. Boston could have scored 2 runs instead of 14 and still would have beaten us yesterday.
