Talkin Baseball is talking about units that could surprise (good or bad). The first topic was the Astros SP disappointing.
They completely misdiagnosed our second half overall though. We did better as a team in the 2nd half because our offense went nuts.
First Half: 51-41 (.549) - 89 win pace
Second Half: 40-31 (.563) - 91 win pace
I think they make a fair argument. However, it's just as easy or easier to make one than we'll be better.
- JV is injured to start and 41
- Relying on Javier to bounce back and fix the fastball
- Framber's second half was poor and he's racking up some innings
- Brown was expected to step up last year and wasn't it, especially in the 2nd half.

- As long as JV comes back before the deadline (he's expected very early in the season) he'll pitch more in 24 than 23.
- Javier had his worst season by far. I think a bounce back is more likely than a regression.
- Framber's overall was still good.
- Brown's expected #s were much better than actual. He's the perfect candidate to have a big year.
- LMJ & Garcia are coming. We'll get more in 24 from them than 23.
I can see either scenario happening. If Framber and Javier bounce back we will be fine. I have a lot of faith in Javier but I do worry about Framber and his between the ears issues.

Much of Framber's issues were a nagging injury and fatigue. I'm not saying the mental stuff isn't a part of it because maybe it is.. but it's very overblown from everything I've been told. I'm sure those two things can exacerbate the whole mental thing though.

The real MVP of that play is not actually seen in the video. Pirates' CF ANdy Van Slyke, who hated Bonds and was hated in return by Bonds, gave absolutely zero effort to run over and get the ball after Bonds fell down.
