Whoever is in charge of the opposing teams bullpen scouting report needs to be fired. If we don't pounce on the starter early it's big L every time.

Gray's average exit velo over his last 2 outing is 86 mph. He's definitely not pitching like he was a month ago but he's also caught some terrible luck lately.

I wonder if, as part of all the pace of play stuff, umpires have been instructed to giving pitchers more around the plate. It's been so bad league wide.

I really thought we would come out of that Astros series pissed off and take it out on some lesser competition but the team still looks flat.

I thought they wanted to increase offense, but the way they are calling games, it doesn't seem like it.
A lot of perplexed batters looking at called third "strikes".

It seems like anything that nicks the black is now a strike.

At least they seem to be consistent in calling it both ways.

If I recall, before the season and into spring training, there were discussions about making an effort to widen the strike zone again in order to counter how vertical it had become.

Agree it does, unfortunately my confidence in the Rangers is quite low based on the past 5 weeks and losing three of the last four series while splitting with Detroit, who may be swept at home by the A's today.

Starting pitching has been mostly good enough in the past 5 weeks, but as has been the case all season, relief pitching has been suspect at best, and the offense has lost it's mojo from the first two months of the season and is either on or off. I'd be fine with the state of the pitching if the offense would lose the poor approach it has developed at the plate.

Certainly hope the Rangers win today, but I am experienced enough to know reality usually hammers my hopes.

You're probably right P-Joe, just need to let that $h!t go, should simply enjoy the game for what it is.
