4 Months? If he pitches 140 innings next season it will be the next 2 years most likely. The pitching situation changed drastically from the beginning of this season. JV is much more valuable to us now than he was then.Mathguy64 said:

The deal might be better in a vacuum but when you take into account the off-season where we could've just signed verlander and kept our prospects and let some other team overpay Montero, it really stinks to me. As a fan, saving on payroll by dealing prospects is a pretty ****ty trade. I dunno. I hope it works out

I wonder what the market would have been without Verlander's no trade clause. I give Crane credit for taking advantage.

While Gilbert & Clifford sting, I remember how the Astros refused to trade Jeff Juden & Scott Elarton to make playoff runs and neither of those 2 "can't miss" prospects ever developed.
