There's been no corresponding move announced, but the fact that Yainer Diaz is DHing and Martín Maldonado is catching would seem to suggest that the Astros are going back to carrying three catchers. https://t.co/gmDVVXgTDS

I assume you are predicting what would happen in the event of an injury to Maldy? Why not just let the 3rd catcher who is certainly being called back up come in for Maldy?Dies Irae said:
I guess worse case scenario you move Diaz to catcher, make the pitcher bat and pinch hit for him every AB?

Zack Greinke once threw Joey Votto nothing but hanging sliders because he believed Votto recognized spin better than anyone in baseball—and he knew Votto would expect the pitch to break out of the zone.

Votto on Greinke: "I f— with this guy.”

We have recalled C César Salazar from Triple A to take the place of OF Yordan Alvarez on the active roster. https://t.co/KiPbMK2jqb

Yordan went to the IL today... a 3rd catcher is an obvious move for the call up based on that lineup and what we know of Dusty.Dies Irae said:bearkatag15 said:I assume you are predicting what would happen in the event of an injury to Maldy? For sure, I just haven't heard of any call up as of yet nor anyone getting sent down
Replace Maldy with Diaz at Catcher and have Jake in the line-up, that would be the best we could possibly field right now.bearkatag15 said:Flip Abreu and Diaz and its about as good as it can beFarmer1906 said:

I'm surprised Yed has been seemingly 100% up until last night, not that we need another injury.Beau Holder said:
It's tough news but I'd rather them be careful and let him get to 100%. If he misses seriously extended time, we're toast.
Too bad we don't have that 3rd catcher anymoreFarmer1906 said:
Keep this man in the lineup with Yordan out. 1B, DH, C. Doesn't matter.
