One thing I think we can all agree on is that Abreu sucks and I wish we could instead be b1t<h!ing about Yuli and his replacement-level play on a cheap 1-yr deal.

One is a two-time WS champion, the other has only flamed out in early rounds of the playoffs. They both need to pick it up, obviously, but Bregs has earned some leeway from us fans due to past performance. Abreu ought not be shown that same courtesy IMO. He hasn't earned it, here at least.
The problem with both is who are you replacing them with? Dubon turned back into the pumpkin he is. Maybe Chas can learn 1B?

Bregman is going to be fine. I think it's time to let go of the dream that he's going to be a 40 HR MVP candidate and he does need to hit better, but people are still hung up on batting average and don't realize how valuable he is as a guy who is going to end up with a .350 OBP again, still has some pop and plays great defensive 3b.
He's still easily a top 10 MLB third baseman.

While we can all wish for MB to play 1B, the chances of him getting anything more than a spot start once a week are slim and none.
There is nothing in Dusty's makeup that suggests anything other than Abreu in the 4 hole on a regular basis. Like it or not that's not how he manages vets.

For some a manager who gives guys days off for running the bases a lot I absolutely did not expect him to play this much.
I'd imagine as soon as he breaks out and has a 4-4 game with a HR and a couple RBIs he'll earn himself an off-day.

Fair enough. By that criteria, I'd say Springer and Arenado are in strong contention, but Abreu is firmly in the lead for HDLVP award....

Pena is doing about what I expected, which is a good thing. He's going to keep getting better.
Diaz not getting playing time is ridiculous, but maybe not surprising. F'in Dusty.
Dubon has surprised us (very positively) by hitting the same BA as Altuve, but what he doesn't have is the power to make some of them homers. We are missing the long ball impact a lot.
Jake has filled in admirably at CF, though not quite as consistent as Brantly was. Still, not a huge production difference.
Brown has replaced JV quite well so far. The issue for us with pitching is suddenly our same pen doesn't close it as well, and now we have too many injured starters.
This team can still make a run - but it needs to find it's mojo and I feel like that starts with the bats. Mainly getting Tuve back, playing Diaz more, and Breggman and Abreu better go on a pilgrimage and find themselves or something.

Astros twitter kills me sometimes. This is one of the worst takes I've seen. The SEC is a damn good college baseball conference... it is nowhere close to the talent level of AA. Wow.
Just looked at May #s only. Yainer Diaz is second on the team with a 94 wRC+. Yordan is at 150. Most the team is low but there is a special spot for Bregman 2, Julks -29, and Hensley -48.
Seeing Gilbert face off with Paul Skenes in a couple years is gonna be something...
Reminder of how good Altuve was a year ago.
