Gawd, you're right.
But at least tucker would get some protection and Bregmans walk ability could come to use without the protection. Meaning his skill set is better to withstand no protection than others.
Our JAGs have carried us to .500
Pitching has carried us thus far, but how much longer can they hold up with Garcia out for the year and Urquidy out until after the ASB? Bottom line is the bats have to get their **** together.

Jose Abreu's disappointing lack of performance reminds me of the fallout of Carlos Gomez. CG came in with a lot of hype and turned out to be one of the biggest hot dogs and flops in Astros franchise history.

I think this team will turn it around, but I will say that if we don't quite reach the greatness of last year then it's probably Jim Crane's fault for cheapening out on starting pitching after letting JV walk.
Which is disappinting given his comments about how he'd be opening up the checkbook. He did it for a middling reliever (Montero) and a declining 1B (Abreu), so far those signings have not been good. Maybe we should have had a GM to make those calls.

Not sure… probably not. Has Diaz really forced himself into the lineup though? We showed last year that we are fine with really bad hitting out of the catcher spot (although I guess the same could be said for 1b too). Btw, I'm not willing to die on this hill for Maldy, I'm fine with benching him. Replacing a .180 hitter with a .220 hitter isn't really going to do a lot for our offense though.

Don't take their word for it. Look at how he flew thru the system. Look at his consistently good #s moving up levels. Look at his his exit velo in the minors and now. Look at his elite arm and poptime. The point in calling him a top prospect is that he's not just another guy in our system. It's someone with high potential. It's the future.
I get that's what he is. And I doubt doubt that he deserves the consideration.

Well, I doubt it would be the first time, but it would be hard for him to slump to Maldy's level. I was probably wrong to concede that spot to Maldy though, in years past we have had the luxury of wasting that spot, maybe not this year.
Today we start our first season series against the Angels so hopefully our bats can turn things around.
Diaz is very talented. I can promise you he's far from peaked.
The kid plays once, twice a week at most. Once he starts getting consistent ABs, he'll find a rhythm. Trust me on that one.
