I think he might not want to stay there long term and play for teams that suck year after year for his whole career.Mathguy64 said:

"we want to offer you $350 million for 13 years."
"No."
If he has a catastrophic injury thats a lot of money.

My kid started little league baseball in Austin last night, 9 and 10 year olds. The coach asked every kid who was their favorite baseball player. The responses, as best I can remember, were:
Babe Ruth
Babe Ruth
Babe Ruth
Babe Ruth
Jackie Robinson
Mike Trout
Fernando Tatis, Jr.
Jose Altuve
Jose Altuve
Carlos Correa
Yuli Gurriel
I thought this was not bad in a city that was solidly Rangers country for the longest time, and still has only the Rangers on the radio.
Theoretically, he could easily get 16/460 for the rest of his career (3 years arb and a 13-year contract)Mathguy64 said:

Soto turned down a 13/350 deal from the Nats.
If we assume he'll average around 18-20 M a year in arb over the next 3 years, he'll need to get a 10/290-296 on the open market. He should crush that at only 26 years old. Nice try, Washington.
Trout got 12/426.5. I don't think Soto will get that, but why not 13/400?
Not for me or all the longtime Astro fans who went, it was the best everAg_07 said:

The Babe Ruth answers might make more sense if they watched the Sandlot recently.AggieLit said:I should have mentioned this wasn't the order they were given in. maybe spell Rickey Henderson's name right first off and, second off, actually read some coverage before claiming "no one is talking about" the unanimous 2019 Rookie of the Year.

MLB is not the only sport that experiences these sorts of work stoppages (NBA, NHL) and actually we've been rather lucky in that it has been almost 30 years since we've seen seen anything like this. It used to be a rather regular occurrence.agdaddy04 said:
