I used to be of the mindset that the DH sucked and AL games were too long -- you know all the arguments against it. I was super pissed when the Astros were forced to change leagues. I thought NL was the way to go.

That being said, it's about time that there is Universal DH. I like the strategy with the pitchers batting, but honestly, when it comes to the product on the field, the DH makes it better. How many times have you watched an NL game when the 7,8 and 9 hitters are up and thought, "Well, there's no chance to score this inning"? The game has changed. Gone are the days when pitchers could somewhat hit. Tjack have the stats up higher. It's a brutal watch.

Some stats: the last time the pitchers position averaged over .200 BA in a season was 1930. The last time the average was above .150 was 1994.

Wow, and I'm sure the court has no vested interest in protecting the rich and powerful to their own benefit. No, you can't consent to assault. Law does not equate to morality.

Was she assaulted or was everything that happened within the boundaries they set? Those are the two sides of the story.

We will never truly know, but we can all make assumptions based on our biases and argue about it!

Honestly I'm torn on the universal DH.

I don't like the universal DH in a sense that it creates different strategies and styles of play across the two leagues. I like the decisions a manager has to make without the DH.

I like the universal DH because it levels the playing field in the WS.
How often are there real tough decisions to make? Most of the time it's a fairly obvious choice to bunt, PH, or leave the pitcher.

The statement wasn't that the decision is hard, it was that it has to be made

Literally everything is a decision. I'm not PHing altuve in the 2nd. I'm not having Maldy straight steal. I'm not bunting Alvarez. I'm not pitching LMJ 200 pitches.

It's implied that hard decisions are the ones people care about.

Ehhh, but those two sides do not benefit both parties equally. Bauer's image is tarnished one way or another IMO. The fact that Bauer has an online reputation for harrassment isn't exactly a point in his favor.

I mean, you're not doing any of those things in either league. The 'easy' decision of pulling a pitcher for a pinch hitter sometimes has to be made, but only in the National League. It forces an important action where it wouldn't otherwise be necessary.

I like the pitcher hitting. There are nine fielders, there are nine spots in the lineup, each fielder bats. That makes sense to me. Most arguments against the pitcher hitting come down to that it's a wasted spot in the lineup. That also makes sense to me. What doesn't make sense is having the leagues do it differently. I'd prefer no DH, but it's more important that they make it consistent between leagues. I'm glad they're doing that.

Didn't need that tweet to know that the idiots on both sides are trying to kill the game.

The one good thing we can look forward to after the lockout and a second year of missed games is that its gonna be lit. Spider tack containers on the mound and roid injections at the plate to boost all the numbers and try to increase ratings.

two things regarding the lockout negotiations...

the players are not interested in playing 162 games. They would be fine with a 140-game season which is about what most guys play now.

and likewise the owners would be okay with about 130 to 140 games as long as the payroll is pro-rated. They can save a nice chunk of change and still compete for the title with the same roster.

so neither side is concerned about missing the month of April

They both lose money on that deal.

The players would not take a 140 game schedule with a corresponding across the board immediate salary reduction. And the owners would not take a 140 game schedule without one.

The tv people would be asking for money back. Both sides take a haircut with lost games.

There are some creative solutions to be had there. Could they cut the regular season off 3-4 weeks earlier to get to 145 regular season games and then have a one month tournament of sorts that's considered the first round of the playoffs? Basically have the top 5 or 6 teams from each league play series against each other with the top 2 of each league going to the LCS? Teams lose out on some local revenue but the tv deal for that would likely be revenue shared like the existing playoffs.

This is correct. Rights deals are based on minimum game thresholds being met. Less games means less money to the teams/league from TV
