Looking for some good Astro road trips. It looks like we will make a trip in May to either Nationals or Red Sox, then June to the Yankees and possibly the Tuesday Mets game and probably Mariners in July.
WX in Seattle gets nice starting July 4. Good month to visit

Personally, I wouldn't do any planned trips to places with heavy Covid rules. I heard too many horror stories of wasted trips, things being closed, requiring vax for kids, etc. it sucks because that eliminated 80% of the road-trip this year.

If that doesn't matter then my choice would be Boston. Fenway is amazing. Boston is a fun city. Plus the games should be competitive.

This would be juicy.

that sounds like something the Mets would do.

Judge has had a strange career...in that his best season...whether by slash lines or counting numbers...is still his rookie year of 2017.

buyer beware

perhaps the most telling stats on Judge...

his career OPS vs. the Orioles in 251 at-bats ---> 1.087

his career OPS vs. the Red Sox in 252 at-bats ---> .811

his career OPS vs. the Rays in 252 at-bats --------> .789

wow and wow again

I'm looking at that New York trip potentially. Might do one game at Yankee Stadium and then the other two to see us play the Mets

Our corporate office is in Minneapolis. Trying to convince the boss we need to take a trip up there for "training" the same time as the road trip.

Might be the case, but I don't think the fans care and I bet you that the Dodgers would play him opening day if they could. But MLB be is afraid of the SJW/MeToo crowd and not sure they know what to do.

This was not abuse... She clearly consented and asked for it. The courts have ruled that he did not exceed what she wanted.

Now who will protest the most about this? Honest question. I don't think it will be women's rights groups because are they going to say that a woman is not allowed to chose to how a non-traditional sex life?

I think it might be religious/holy rollers that have the most to say about it. He may not be a role model for your daughters boyfriend, but technically did not break the law.

I'm not sure that lockerroom would be down for him coming back at all much less him pitching Opening Day.

Pretty sure they all hate him.

News nerds don't belong in a locker room. That should be a sacred place.

https://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/33208373/ranking-mlb-all-greatest-uniforms

"What made it so great: The Astros went bold with a tequila sunrise of orange, yellow and red across the torso as part of a larger trend in the 1970s to stick out, as color television sales surpassed black-and-white sets for the first time. From the fonts to the colors to the oversized star, not to mention the countless photos of fireballers like Nolan Ryan, Mike Scott and J.R. Richard tossing heaters in them, the jerseys left enough of an impression to inspire the Astros' redesign when they moved to the American League in 2013.

What today's uniform designers could learn from it: Don't be afraid to experiment. The Astros' sunrise color scheme was far from typical and, for that reason if nothing else, lives on in baseball lore."

I agree. Covid has made trips suck. With my buddy playing for the Yankees we wanted to go to NY last year, but they were knee deep it covid BS. No way I am playing that game. Hopefully they have a season this year, and the covid crap calms down and we can hea that way.

Luckily we went and watched them in Boston last year and their was no covid rules in place. Fenway was awesome. Highly recomend it to any true baseball fan. Yes, the seats sucks, but honestly that is where the complaints end. Everything about the field and atmosphere is what makes baseball special.

I also second the Seattle trip. Went there several years back and weather was fantastic in the summer. We went in June.....Granted nowadays the city might be a liberal nut job police free zone or whatever the new deal is up there?

Him being pedestrian without the sticky stuff could also have something to do with it.

Not just that but I think it's certainly a part of it.

Pretty sure it was reported last year that before MLB stepped in that a good portion of the Dodger players were adamant they didn't want him with the team while it was being sorted out.

I could be misremembering but I think that was the case.

Hmmmm..... Are you sure about that?

ERA = 2.59 (4th in NL, 4th in MLB)
K/9 = 11.5 (3rd in NL, 5th in MLB
WHIP = 1.00 (4th in NL, 4th in MLB)

Sure, I get this while it was being sorted out. Now that everything is out there and no charges filed it is a different story.

I wouldnt be so sure. The wives and GF's in the clubhouse wont want their guys to be associated with him. And the club itself will have a hard time with the PR look. It may have been legal but finding chicks to hook up with who let you beat the ever loving crap out of them isnt a good look.

No not a good look, but also she was the one that sought him out and asked him to choke and beat her. That is why there is no charges. She asked for it and the judge stated that he did not exceed what she asked for.

Im not disagreeing with that. I'm just saying from the Dodgers perspective, their employee is a headache. So much so that they very well may eat the $45MM and tell him to go beat chicks up in private.

Yes.

From where are you pulling those numbers? His entire 2021 season? The sticky stuff crack down happened June 21. He was using this season for all but 2 of his starts.

He started using in 2020. Every season before that his ERA was above 4. He had a good 2018 but that was the exception. Then he started using sticky stuff and became the best starter in baseball.

Truthfully, we don't know how he would've done the rest of the season, but when you look at what he did before he starts using it, he was pedestrian.

He was the absolute best at using the sticky stuff, though. Which makes sense because he really studied it to try and get it stopped. When he went to the Reds he decided he'd just start using, and their team saw the highest Spin rate gain of any team in the majors. That then happened again when he went to the Dodgers.

This is coming from someone who kind of likes the guy, too. I find what he would do with social media pretty entertaining, and his outlook on the game and training to be very interesting.
