Seems to me, that a REAL perfect game (though VERY unlikely to ever happen) would be 9 innings of 9 strikes each. So a 81 strike game. Is there a name for such a thing?

I guess it would be called an immaculate game but it will never happen.

Immaculate innings are 9 pitch 3 strikeout innings and have only happened about 100 times in history. For context there have been 300 no hitters.

By the odds it would be 3 times less likely to happen than a pitcher throwing 9 consecutive no hitters.

Greg Maddux once had a complete game with <81 pitches.

Wouldn't the perfect game be 27 pitches? One pitch outs to every single hitter?

exactly. And besides that, strikeouts are fascist, ground balls are more democratic.

This would be the impossibility. Someone would take a pitch just to end it.

This link is weirdly relevant to this thread.

First thing that popped into my mind when you mentioned the "immaculate game."

I suggest just calling it a Fraser from now on. Much more faithful to the source material.

0 pitches total. Intentional walk followed by pickoffs for each out.

yeah, but that's only been around the last few years when they added the no pitch intentional walk. Which is another stupid rule Manfraud has perpetrated upon baseball.

7-inning high school game, I know, but it has to be rare...

https://vault.si.com/vault/1969/06/09/faces-in-the-crowd

"Rob Schleider, a pitcher for the Bryan (Tex.) A&M Consolidated Tigers, threw a perfect game against Crockett High, striking out all 21 batters. In 80 innings this season, Rob has pitched two other no-hitters and struck out no fewer than 147 batters."
