Field of dreams is the most overrated baseball movie. Sure there are a few good scenes and lines, but for the most part it's blah

It would have been shocking to me if a POS like Bauer actually had the moral fortitude to do things the right way while others did things that gave them an advantage over him.

Having posted a boob or 2 to this board I can safely say that rant is in the 99th percentile.

Looking forward to more of your posts FBF! I went to a lot of those 86 games. Played golf with Ashby a couple weeks ago (he turns 70 this year!) Such a close team with a lot of characters.

Got a ball with Tony Gwynn, Alan Ashby and Jeff Calhoun from 86 when the Padres were in town. Tony was awesome and chatted me up in right field for a bit before the game.

Also went to the game when Scrap Iron hit a mammoth grand slam...that was awesome.


I went to high school with Ash's kids and played ball with his son. He would come out and practice with is on weekends. Great guy and family...and his daughter was a smokeshow in high school.

My Top 5 is

#1 Major League - fun perfect baseball movie that i find myself watching every time I find it on.
#2 Bull Durham - such a great cast
#3 Moneyball - wait.. Art Howe .. and brad pitt.. what can go wrong
#4 Eight Man Out - just a great movie. Love the story and this movie got me to read the book and start really learning about the black sock scandal.
#5 For the Love of the Game - another Kevin Costner movie that is a guilty pleasure.

Field of Dreams - i find this movie boring... do love the parts where they focus on the game... but this movie drags
The Rookie - fun movie but.. it is about a Ranger player and it is too much Disney.
The Natural - was very close to making #5 but I get annoyed w/ Hobbs to much to make it in the ranking.
61 - my father favorite baseball movie.. he remembers every inning that year..
A League of Your Own - my #6 .. what a fun and great movie.. really it was a toss up between For the Love and League for me

O's playing small ball and I love it. Teams should always bunt the runner on second over to start every extra inning frame.

Why is Bull Durham so great? I've never seen it. I did see the trailer on Amazon Prime and it looked like a weird chick flick that involved a minor league baseball player. Please tell me I'm wrong.

A League of Their Own would have made it if they toned down the sappy BS at the beginning and end of the film. Not a movie but an episode of the X-Files. "The Unnatural" is great.

Good movie with some excellent moments but I would have liked it better if it remained truer to the novel. Same is true for Field of Dreams.

How long until a result is given on the Bauer substance check? Kind of annoying that the pitcher is in no risk of being ejected. Probably a suspension that results in 1 missed start if found to be doctoring the ball?
