So Toro/Garcia will take care of 3B for the next few weeks. Toro can also play 1B.

Assuming Bregman goes on the IL I assume the move is to bring in another bullpen arm for this long stretch. When Tucker comes back you have to send Taylor Jones down at that point.

Not if he is still having shoulder soreness. I'd guess Scrubb

So will Dusty actually move CC up now?

Altuve
Brantley
Correa
Alvarez
Yuli
Chas
Garcia/Toro
Straw
Machete

Or should I just get mad now and expect:

Altuve
Brantley
Garcia/Toro
Alvarez
Yuli
CC
Chas
Straw
Machete

No way he puts one of those dudes in the 3 hole right?

I saw earlier that he was doing fine but Scrubb is probably the guy called up

No, more like 2 hole in front of Brantley

Brantley and Yordan won't be back to back. Even Dusty isn't that dumb. I think.

That makes no sense, so it will be the most likely outcome.

Yeah but you can flip Yordan and Yuli in that scenario

Don't forget yuli can play second and third. Bullpen would make sense, but who are they gonna call up that can be trusted to get outs? I would think they'd want someone capable of playing middle infield or outfield if they bring up a position player. Playing with a two man bench is risky. The Diaz injury was really bad timing.

Its still a 3 man bench in my scenario

Castro
Jones
Toro/Garcia

when Tucker returns

Castro
Toro/Garcia
Chas

So current situation looks like:

1B - Yuli, Jones, Alvarez?
2B - Altuve, Garcia, Toro?
SS - CC, Garcia, Straw
3B - Garcia, Toro, Yuli

CF - Straw, Chas, Tucker
RF - Tucker, Chas,
LF - Brantley, Alvarez, Jones

C - Machete, Castro

Am I missing someone off the bench?

They will put Toro at 1st before Yordan

Chas is the MFin man!!!!!

Years from now we'll be debating if Chas or Altuve is the greatest Astro ever.

one killer aspect of Toro --- he does not draw walks.

last year...only 3 walks in 97 plate appearances.

that's a guy that knows he can't hit breaking pitches (i.e. can't let the count get to 2 strikes)

he had more HBP's (7) than walks last year

looking at the American League as a whole...

the top 6 teams have really started to separate from the pack in June.

Rays, Red Sox, White Sox, Indians, A's, and Astros.

could be a lot of sellers at the trade deadline

Well for starters, he's not the Astros franchise record holder for games, at-bats, hits, runs scored, doubles, total bases, and extra base-hits.
He doesn't hold the record for most leadoff home runs in National League history.
He's not one of five players in baseball history with 250 career homers and 400 career steals.
He doesn't have 3,000 hits.
He's not second all-time in hits by pitch.
He isn't sixth in ML history in doubles with 668.
7x All-Star games
Only player in MLB history to be an all-star as a catcher and a second baseman.
4x Gold Gloves
5x Silver Sluggers
Roberto Clemente Award winner
Hall of Famer member
20 seasons with the franchise.
More than $2 million raised during his career for the Sunshine Kids Foundation (basically a Make-a-Wish for kids with cancer).
Went on to coach St. Thomas's baseball team and win 2 state titles.
Dad of a big-leaguer.

Altuve has a great shot at being the greatest Astro of all-time when it's all said and done. his MVP and World Series victory and countless playoff heroics are untouchable. But greatest of all-time is something measured at the end of the career, not halfway through.

For starters I think it's gotta be between Altuve and Biggio. Bagwell was might favorite growing up, but I think Biggio has him beat out in Greatest Astros of all time.

I think the only case for Biggio beating out Altuve at the moment is longevity and counting numbers. Biggio played in 20 seasons with the Astros, Altuve is at 11. Altuve has played in a little less than half the number of games, but is on a better per game pace for hits, 3B, HR, RBI, SB and (fewer) SO.

Greatest Regular Season Astro: Biggio
Greatest Postseason Astros: Altuve (followed closely by guys like Springer and Correa)
Greatest Astro of All Time: I think Biggio still has the slight edge, but Altuve is catching up quickly

It'll probably be down in less than 10 minutes, so enjoy it while it lasts!

Well, the edit survived the night, which confirms one simple fact.

No one on Earth gives a **** about the Texas Rangers.

And he's got 8 HRs. One more than Bregman, one less than Yordan

Tucker 13
Correa 12
Yuli 10
Alvarez 9
McCormick 8
Bregman 7
Maldonado 5
Brantley 3
Diaz 3
Castro 2

maybe a couple of weeks off will help Bregman.

he's been fairly bad since the middle of May...especially for a 3-hole hitter. Dusty kept him there too long.

it will help the offense to have Correa or Tucker batting 3rd now

The people in the top 5 aren't that shocking (the order is though). Bregman is the big surprise being 7th

Quick standings review.

Even though we're 7-3 in our last 10 and have won 3 in a row, we've lost ground on the red hot A's. We're back 2.5 games.

We have a lead in the 2nd wild card, just 1 game ahead of Cleveland and 4 games ahead of NY. We trail Boston by 2 games.

Our run differential of +93 is tied for second with LAD and behind only CHW. We'll have an opportunity to catch them there this next series.

Keep an eye out on the D-Backs. They're on pace for 115 losses. That would put them 4th all-time. The record is 120 by the 1962 Mets followed by 119 by the 2003 Tigers.

Gonna be tough until we play them. They have 7 games against the Rangers coming up between now and then which should all be W's. Hopefully they drop a couple to the Yankees or Boston. Otherwise we wait till July.
