There's only one bit of what he said that I'll agree with. They should have done this between seasons rather than in the middle of the year. I posted this last night, but there's more implications than just to pitchers. Teams with easier schedules until now benefit (like the A's) because they now play what has up until now been stronger competition without their advantages. As usual, Manfred stepped in it here.

I'm no expert (except when I post in this thread), but shouldn't a pitcher be focused on throwing as hard as he can control instead of using a substance to control as hard as he can throw?

I do agree with that; however, is it that different than the mid season moratorium on using technology to relay signals? Season going along, notice there's an issue, and issue proclamation that it's against the rules to break the rules. Genuinely asking.

Not really, it's a good point. Maybe I'm more sensitive to the competitive difference because of how it impacts the Astros in the division race right now. I just wish MLB would have dealt with this before this year rather than continuously "asking nicely".
