This blue is really squeezing urquidy. Some are pitches where he's missed the spot, but still. His score is gonna suck

Who swings at an 0-2 over your head? Jose
And that pitch was on his shoelaces.

Every time I see a bat explode like that I can't help but think of Billy Hatcher and superball chunks flying everywhere.

Astros tried to defuse that situation by saying it was Dave Smith's bat.

Hatcher tried to more than the team. And if recall it was a "batting practice bat" too.

Shout out to John McSherry, the 800-pound umpire in this clip.

But the '17 Astros were the only ones to have cheated. Corked bats, pine tar and Vaseline on cap bills. Dudes with binoculars in center field. This **** has been going on since Abner Doubleday.

Was it Ken Forsh that had the nail file in his pocket and then tossed it when the umpire approached the mound?

Joe Niekro. That's one of the best videos ever.

No dude. This isn't racquetball. You can't play it off the wall.

The A's are effed. This guy's thrown 67 pitches and it's still the third inning.

I still remember watching Big Mac die at the start of a Reds game. Absolutely shocking.

What happens to his negotiating power if he's hitting .206 on May 1. Anything?

Nothing. What happens if he's hitting .206 on Sept 1? He's gonna wish he had taken the offer.

People are funny with their morals. As if they didn't win a ring with Canseco & McGwire. But we'd be giving the A's just as much isht if the roles were reversed.

You're right though - cheating is rampant in all sports. People just like to pretend its not when the other guy gets caught.

Come on man.

They just flashed the graphic and he was like 86% on steal attempts. Catcher made a great throw & he got caught. Happened to Rickey Henderson 335 times.

Edit for fact check. Doesn't change the point.

Uh, Ricky had 1400 steals, he didn't get thrown out 1400 times.

Thank. Post edited.

Better stat would have been that even Henderson got caught 20% of the time. Straw needs to run more, not less. He needs to get on base more, but that's another conversation.

He does have the record (335)

Does anybody really ever have 1400 attempts?
And did Mike Fiers really diddle a 15 year old? I see this referenced on here all the time but I've never actually read about it. I mean the Astros thread on TexAgs is pretty much gospel but I'd kinda like another source.

No doubt. An 80% success rate with that many attempts.

Straw is still at 80% after that CS, btw.

Rickey Henderson stole 1,406 bases in his career. Lou Brock is second at 938. The closest active players are Elvis Andrus and Billy Hamilton, tied at 305. Along with Nolan's career strikeout and no-hitter records, it seems to be the most unbreakable record in all of sports.

Rickey led the league in steals 12 times - three times over 100 including the all-time record of 130 - including in 1998 with 66 when he was THIRTY NINE YEARS OLD.
