If that's the case then don't play in. That could've burned you with no upside if you're saying that. No way do you take it for granted that you'll score in the bottom half.

I think it's an interesting debate since we get to start with a guy on 2nd in the bottom half. I'd rather have the double play though because I don't trust our bullpen to string together consistent outs

Maybe, but no outs and two on with Bielak pitching?

Altuve may have also made the more conservative play by thinking it's easier to try to get on run back, and maybe a second than needing more.

The only reason you wouldn't come home when playing in is if the ball is hit in a manner where you aren't going to get him at the plate - diving play, hit too soft, etc. Otherwise you play at double play depth in the middle.

The manager made the call on the plan.

Not being rude, just pointing out the facts. And I agree, I prefer the old style of just taking care of business. But potentially injuring someone for watching a HR is not cool.
