I also think we got a preview of the 2021 World Series this week. Us against one of those two teams. The bullpen needs some major overhauling though to make that a reality. I am happy the offense fought back to tie it. I had 100% faith we would see a Correa or Yuli walk off homerun in that 10th inning

One positive from tonight was McCormick and the bottom of the lineup doing well. They Got on base 7 times and in key situations

On a night where Altuve, Diaz and Bregman went hitless ... the bottom order guys stepped up

I have to keep reminding myself that it is still May. This bullpen is an unmitigated disaster right now. It's compounded when our star defenders make bad plays and we are in the top 4 teams for LOB.

So let's say the Astros make a big trade again like we did in 17 and 19 at the deadline. Who would you go after that you believe we can get? And what are you willing to give up?

If Syndergaard didn't just get injured that's who I would have gone after.

Just a thought, crazy as it is, regarding the garbage extra innings rule hangover from covid.

Once you know you're jammed up like we got tonight, just say, "yep that's it we'll see ya tomorrow."

I'm talking something as absurd as once you're down 3-4 runs, knowing your bullpen is as gassed as ours, just say f*it. We gotta go rest and get ready for tomorrow.

Let teams start doing the analytics on the various scenarios, start conceding games, and that would be the end of this. Because MLB knows the fans wouldn't have it.

Of course it would never happen, but just the thought of it is as absurd as the new rule. And just as big of an insult to the game.

Then again, if MLB keeps it up, the numbers will start getting crunched...

I don't think we have the capital to get what we need without giving up someone like Leon, and that's not worth it, IMO.

As it stands (again, IMO) we are a stud starting pitcher and a couple of solid bullpen arms away from being a legitimate contender. I think we could overcome the outfield situation especially if Tucker moved to CF For the playoffs like George used to. Obviously for that to happen he'd have to play there at least some during the regular season.

I don't think it's worth giving up the precious few talented MiLB guys we do have. Best option for this team is to hope that Framber, Odorizzi & urquidy are guys who by the end of the season can carry the load. ZG might still have a little magic left, but he's not a staff Ace anymore.

There's a lot of baseball to be played and by the deadline we could look like a team that is only one or two bullpen guys away... or it could go the other direction and like my man Dusty I don't really want to talk about that.

Just think...if we had a time machine, we could have Josh Hader, AJ Hinch, Jeff Lunhow, no cheating accusations, and we wouldn't know who in the hell Mike Fiers or Carlos Gomez were. Worst trade in the history of the Astros, easily.

What about trading for a guy like Mike Fiers

He helped us tremendously in a similar situation in 2017

Framber looking solid tonight and Javier throwing well out of the pen was really good. If those two can keep it up then that'll help ALOT. Especially when Framber gets off the <80 pitch count limit

Most of you guys were way ahead of the curve and hated him before he ratted us out. I defended him prior to that for his contributions in 2017 and because I thought he was a pretty good, if not inconsistent pitcher.

It's too bad he sold out his/our legacy, and all for what? If he would have just kept his mouth shut the years would have healed his butthurt over being left off the roster and he would eventually be a Houston hero that could have done whatever he wanted in this city. Now no matter what he goes on to do he will just be known as the Stro Rat.

That being said, Chas needs more playing time. With Brantley on the DL, it's his opportunity to prove he deserves to start in the OF. He hit that HR last night, then missed a GS by just a couple inches.

The bullpen needs a lot of work. Something will need to be done. Hopefully, Click can find someone on the scrap heap to turn into a gem. Hell, Luhnow traded for Liariano, and he helped as a situational lefty. I think a minor nice is needed and players need to get healthy. We need Baez. We need starters back to push Javier and Lu-Ace Garcia back to the bullpen.

Regarding Raley, he hasn't been great, but he hasn't been terrible. The Padres made weak contact against him last night. They had two bloops off of him and scored two runs. The one by Kim was a duck snort that he basically hit of the handles that snuck inside the line in right. Raley is just being used in high leverage because Dusty had no one else.

Bottom line, it's a long season. It's not even June yet. We are in the thick of it and just need to stay close to the A's until we get healthy.

Yordan Alvarez is going to hit today, Dusty Baker said. There was "consideration" to put him on the IL "until he showed a lot of progress (recently)," Baker said.
