Calling him TED is about the dumbest thing ever. Comparing him to arguably the greatest hitter ever is an insult to Ted Williams.
And Tucker hitting the ball hard doesn't mean **** unless he stops striking out and learns to go the other way consistently. The MLB pitchers know his tendencies and are going to keep playing to them which gives him far less room for error. I really want him to be successful because it will make the Astros more successful but he's shown he can hammer minor league pitching and got hot for six weeks in the bigs. Other than that he's been terrible.
The xBA and all that is dumb.
I mean, let's look at another Astro
- exit velo: 90.2
- xBA: .284
- hard hit %: 43.8%
Looks a lot like Tucker right? @ 91.2/.269/45.7%
Only it's actually Yordan who's real numbers are:
- .321 BA
- .548 SLG
- .913 OPS
- 3 HR, 8 2B, and 15 RBI
Those numbers get you in to the HoF, Tucker's get you sent to AAA. Compare their spray charts, Alvarez drives the ball all over while Tucker is a pull guy.
And even though Yordan hasn't hit the HR numbers expected yet, his ability to drive the ball consistently will get him better pitches to drive because pitchers can't expect him to chase and if they're in the zone he's likely to hit it hard to any field so they'll try to be too perfect and that's when they make a mistake that he puts into the upper deck.

I'm not referring to xBA or xSLG, I'm just saying that the expectation of the DH is to have big power numbers. Besides, hitting over .300 with a .550+ SLG and 15 RBIs buys a lot of leeway.
This could end up like that situation a couple years ago where they delayed calling for a RD and we got butt ****ed
