It's funny, they mentioned how "good" his eye is because of his low chase rate. When in reality he just doesn't swing much at all, including strikes.

This is neither here nor there, but I made a comment the other day about Emanuel maybe never going 8 2/3 again in his career. It got me thinking about how Lance doesn't often go deep into games.

He has only gone over 7 innings twice, and hasn't done it since July 2016 (8 IP). He pitched a complete game in his 4th start ever in 2015. That's it.

Some guys just aren't built that way. Sometimes it's luck. Look at Lance's "bad" inning last game. Swinging bunt for a hit & a roller to first that hit the bag. It completely changed his start. In general, he's also not an efficient pitcher. Snell won a Cy Young, he's never completed the 8th inning. Gotta take the pros with the cons.

Fair enough and I agree with all that. My not very clear or well-made point was more about how rare it is anymore to go 8 2/3 and that if a borderline elite pitcher like Lance has only done it once in his career then that might very well be a borderline prospect like Emanuel's peak performance.
