No red, no blue. Just Orange.

112 candidates divided into 28 groups by random number generator. Each group named for a poster from the best moments and off-season threads. Vote for your favorites! Top 64 will move on to a traditional 4 region bracket starting tomorrow-ish. I vow not to abruptly stop counting votes at 11:30 p.m.

Enjoy the ride!

Tuve and J.R. in the same bracket this early? Muck, your random generator thingy must hate me.

Case in point

DubFalls Group
Cesar Cedeno
Yordan Alvarez
Terry Puhl
Craig Reynolds
Except for Yordan (and he is hopefully just starting a long and glorious career as a 'Stro), all these players were a favorite of mine. How can I choose? I guess I'll go with my first favorite of the bunch Cedeno.

It's interesting how many times I got to a matchup of guys in the current era who have helped us to and to win the WS but when matched up against a favorite from my youth - say 1978-1986, I found myself going old school time and again.

Sure thing, I started doing that in some of the movie polls, fun way to include people. Also , if someone in your group ends up being a top 4 vote getter, you get to carry your name into a Region.

Only 2 100%ers so far, who can name them?

Real guess based on relatively weak group and being a HoFer that is great when he is a guest during games, Jeff Bagwell.

Holy smokes! I got to vote for my wife's all-time favorite player in my own category. Must be fate!

And small error, Steve Finley is listed in two brackets, jjxvi and Deluxe. So if Finley gave you an autograph or was your next door neighbor, you get to vote for him twice.

Sorry for the delay on Round 2 ,i was up until 3 am on a deadline writing a book about how to care for a puppy. hard-hitting stuff!

Going to save myself some keystrokes and just tell you that most of the first-round matchups were blowouts as expected. The only ones less than a 65-35 margin were Lima Time over Mike Hampton and Jimmy Wynn "upsetting" Blummer.

Here are the matchups for the Round of 16. I've added in some stats for this round because baseball stats are my nerd heaven outside of Star Wars.

Since it's Friday, would you guys prefer to let this round go all weekend or have me do the FInal 8 Saturday and the FInal 4 Sunday with the Final 2 on Monday? Appreciate your input, will go with whatever the majority says.

It'd be cool if there was a way to upload a list, and then when you go to the site it just asks you "which do like more X or Y" where X and Y are two random entries from the list and then over time just use all of the responses to create an ELO ranking of each item in the list based on all of the responses where the the one that gets picked is considered a "win" and the one not picked is a "loss".

Interesting and pretty impressive that the "old guard" gets the Final 4 spots ahead of any of the heroes of the 2015-2020 Astros. I wouldn't have guessed that, but I'm proud of it. Youngest guy in our Final 4 retired 7 years ago. Oldest guy in our Final 4 played in the 60s.
