Sign Carlos to a 10 year deal with club options for a 9th and 10th year.
Front load the contract years 1 through 5, 2022-2026, drop base salary in years 6-8 with heavy incentives for games played. Include an injury buyout.
26/yr for first 5 years, drop to 22 for years 6, 7 and 8. 30 signing bonus. 8 years 226.

Not an apples to apples comparison. Bregman & Altuve got money early (Bregman was under team control, Altuve signed a terrible contract) so they added a few extra years to get a pay bump. We're going to really need to go over the top to keep Correa from reaching the open market because I'm worried someone will give him 12 years 340.

And watch him say thanks but no thanks. And that isn't a 10 year deal. That's an 8 yr deal with club options.
He thinks someone will also...that's why he would never take that 8yr deal mentioned.
There's no way Correa does that.

Leaving aside his hitting prowess, I hope he's been taking outfield practice every day since the end of the season. For all his raw speed he's a horrid outfielder. He seems to get bad jumps and takes bad routes to balls. Fortunately that can be fixed with practice.
I'm guessing an opening day lineup looks like this
1. Tucker - RF
2. Altuve - 2B
3. Brantley - LF
4. Bregman - 3B
5. Alvarez - DH
6. Correa - SS
7. Gurriel - 1B
8. Maldonado/Castro - C
9. Straw - CF
I personally could see us flipping Correa and Alvarez since yordan has been out of action and Correa ended the season so hot. But other than that I think this will be the lineup as the roster stands today

Having Straw playing CF and batting 9th isn't the best case scenario, but it's certainly not bad either. If he can just find ways to get on base, he's almost always a threat to steal. Then you have him in scoring position with the top of the order. Not bad at all.tjack16 said:

Isn't Kevin Pillar a CF? Go out and get him. Plus defensive player, probably a better hitter than Straw.

Was going to ask about whether % tended to go up or down for the later ballot releases.
Re: Rolen...I don't get it, either. None of his "compiler" numbers indicate HoF. A Hall of Pretty Good guy in my view.
Would feel like Harold Baines getting in, which I also didn't understand.
I still don't understand Edgar Martinez getting in and Berkman with nearly identical stats out after the first vote.

He spent last spring in WPB working with the infielders... at least the week we were there. I saw him several times on one of the small infield areas taking one hoppers with a pancake glove.
I love Texas Aggie sports, but I love Texas A&M more.
