No where yet. Most guys at his level won't get signed until the top and mid tier guys get scooped up.

Normally, if a player turns down a QO and signs a large enough contract the old team gets a pick after the first round. MLB didn't want us to have any first rounders so we got one after the 4th.
So no rhyme or reason? No formual for determining it? So mlb just sticking it to us then right?
The athletic reported a week or so ago that if he signed elsewhere we'd lose that compensatory pick, instead of a 5th (I think), as part of the penalty for the cheating.

Here is what normally gets you a 4th rounder.
If a team that loses a qualifying free agent does not receive revenue sharing and did exceed the luxury-tax salary threshold the previous season, it is awarded a compensatory pick after the fourth round.

Compensation pick after 4th round is what a team above the luxury tax threshold gets.
Yankees Astros and Cubs were above the luxury tax threshold last year (although the tax itself was suspended)
The comp pick drop was also part of Crane's agreement with Manfred or so I though.

Do we have bad blood with Castro? I don't recall anything besides him not being great. I think he's a perfectly fine back up. We can trust him to burn up innings unlike last year with Garneau. But I doubt Castro has a smooth takedown like Garbeau does.
With the Brantley signing, I think that eliminates any chance of Joc.

He'll likely get a lot more. Machete probably can't catch 95% (it seems like he caught the vast majority) of games on a full season.

Yall laugh but closers do come out of nowhere. They learn a new pitch or something just clicks and they take their game to the next level.
Between Pressly, Parades, Taylor, Scrubb, Javier (?) and the new guys we should be a decent enough bullpen even without a true lockdown closer (if there is such a thing).

1. Credit to Crane for still spending money after the shortened, no crowds year.
2. I would guess they want to leave some room to increase with trades and stay under the limit so... I think one more significant contract left. I am hoping JBJ, but that would exhaust pretty much all that is left.
3. The JV extension is killing us right now, but it may also be a blessing in disguise. It'll force us to wait until next year when Correa is a FA.
