I would prefer all our ex players I like to go to the NL.

But if they do go to the AL, I like Toronto. Its a ton of likeable guys with, as mentioned, lots of Astros connections. Plus they can be a thorn in the side of NYY.

from the Astros standpoint...it has been good to see the recent trend of all-star players going from the AL to the NL.

most recently...Machado, Betts, Lindor, et al.

for a while it seemed like the shift in star players was heavily toward the AL

The path through the AL is definitely going to be easier this year. The NL is starting to get stacked.. especially out west

I have many jerseys but only one has a name and number. I've seen players for close to 50 years and he's on my Astros Mt Rushmore of favorites.

that's what I was thinking.

5 years for $125 MM seems reasonable for the Astros...$25 MM per year.

4 years at $125 MM...would be out of range...$31 MM per year.

if George got 4 at 125...then the 2020 COVID revenue loss was a complete non-factor

Hurts to see him go but that's a lot to pay for 36 year old George.

And at 4 years that's a lot to pay for 31 year old George.

seems like a decent deal for Toronto.

they get his 31, 32, 33, and 34-year old seasons...and off the hook afterwards.

by 2025 the Jays' young stars will be heading elsewhere in free agency, so it will be time to rebuild

I would be shocked if it wasn't 5 or more. I love Georgie, but he's not worth 31+ a year for a guy in his 30s.

The comp I, and a couple mothers, kept using was Cespedes. He got 4 year 110M. He signed it at 31 as well. Didn't work out so well for the Mets.

I'm not sure we're going to drop any money for guys over 30.

We are well on our way to being the new Oakland A's. Except we don't have the brains at the top anymore.

6 years at $150 MM doesn't sound like a big win for either side.

the Jays having to take years 5 and 6 --- age 35 & 36 seasons --- very risky

the top U.S. bracket is 37%.

I believe the top Canadian bracket is <gulp> 53%...for the 81 games played in Toronto.

So maybe instead of seeing the Yankees in the AL championship series we'll see Springer and the Blue Jays. That will seem weird, especially if Brantley also signs with them.
