Click really has nothing to do with Springer staying or going. It's all on how much Crane is willing to pay.
like under $25.n_touch said:

If that's true, why even have a GM?

I'm sure there's a conversation about how much Crane wants to spend and if he says "pay the man whatever it takes" then it happens, but the more likely scenario is that Crane sets the budget and Click decides how to spend it.
My experience with administration and decision-making in professional sports is limited, but I have been had the opportunity to be a peripheral part of personnel and facility contracts and their negotiation. Not in MLB and certainly not with the Astros, but enough to have some basis on which to comment...but I'm speculating, just like everyone else.BMX Bandit said:
For every other non-Max type deal on the team.
Do you really think Springer staying will tied to Click? Explain how.
Yes, that's basically what I said. Based on common sense, where any owner of any business is going to want some input on major expenditures. All apologies if you are Brandon Taubman posting in your spare time and have some more concrete insight on what generally happens behind closed doors.Quote:
Generally yes. With a "break the bank" type signing the owner will always be in on the discussion.

I wonder if they think we can win without Springer

We are not signing Springer so glad you have finally come around. I think they would love to sign him but I understand that Springer is not interested in staying in Houston. Wants to move closer to home in the NE.

I agree that Springer is not coming back in all likelihood. Just not sure where you've seen reports that 1) he's not interested in staying in Houston and 2) he wants to play in the NE. I've seen speculation to those extents but nothing even close to definitive.MAROON said:
