I stayed off the thread most of today's game because when I was on, the Astros were struggling.

Now we are back in the ALCS. 4 STRAIGHT!

I'll credit Pressly that a couple of those hits were bad luck, but that was a serious choke attempt.

great to add another franchise to the 'stros playoff victim list:

A's
Twins
Indians
Rays
Yankees
Red Sox
Dodgers
Braves
Cardinals

How did you manage to leave the Dodgers out? They were the biggest victims. LOL.

gotta give credit to Dusty...

second series the 'stros have won...when the opponent had a significant bullpen advantage (at least on paper)

Feel bad for Khris Davis there since he seems like a classy dude. He had an awful day and struck out on a questionable call albeit a makeup one.

Proud of them baws for bouncing back today. 4 straight ALCS appearances speaks volumes, though the haters will keep chirping.

Rooting for a Yankees win tonight so that series goes 5

Yeah I'll credit Dusty but I have to think A LOT of that is a result of Click.

Seriously though we negated that advantage by HAMMERING the starters and forcing them to use the pen way more than they're used to.

Then we HAMMERED to BP

Best part is the extra day of rest and everyone gets to reset in the rotation. Now let's see the Yankees help us out.

Rays or Yankees?

Tough call, but I'll say bring on the pinstripes.

Pressly is a concern...how can we trust him as a closer? He's certainly not acting like one.

Let's just hope our offense stays ridiculously hot for the ALCS

That was fun. Let's do it again next week.

I would prefer NY. Cole would go tomorrow and not be available on short rest until game 3 vs us. Then he'd only pitch again on short rest would be game 7.

None save situations does this for a lot of closers. He looked great games games 1 & 2.

just for fun...

I didn't know CBS had 6 MLB sportswriters...here were their predictions for the series:

https://www.cbssports.com/mlb/news/mlb-division-series-expert-picks-predictions-can-the-yankees-dodgers-advance/

Katherine Acquavella (A's in three): The A's should be able to come in and make quick work of Houston in this best-of-five series. Like they did in the regular season where they finished 7-3 over their NL West foe.

R.J. Anderson (A's in four):
The A's are the better team.

Mike Axisa (A's in four):
I think the A's are the better team, and the ALDS format (i.e. no off-days) means Houston won't be able to dance around their bullpen by using their starters as multi-inning relievers.

Dayn Perry (A's in five):
Even without Matt Chapman, the A's have the stronger roster. I also think not having any days off works in Oakland's favor given their superior pitching depth.

Matt Snyder (A's in five):
Something about how Game 2 went down for the A's makes me think they are gearing up for a deep playoff run. Call it a hunch. Also, they are just the better ballclub here. Sure, the Astros beat a team we thought was better in the first round, but a five-game series is much more an indicator of a better team than three.

Danny Vietti (A's in four): I'm going with my heart over my head in this series. With Matt Chapman out, I believe the Astros have more talent one-through-nine on paper than Oakland. They also have more strikeout arms. However, if baseball has taught us anything, it's that it's not always about talent. Not to mention, it's not as if the Astros lineup tore up Minnesota's pitching in the Wild Card Series. Give me The Town in four and inject it into my veins.

One of the things that always bugged me about AJ was how much he used closers in non-save situations. In my mind, unless the guy needs work to keep his arm fresh, put someone else out there.
