To be fair, Fiers is bad. Logically, we wouldn't pitch him if he was on our team. We wouldn't even want him pitching an inning for us. We would choose Josh James over Mike Fiers.

I don't honestly think they are doing anything that out of the ordinary considering how bad he has been I think they just want to win. They would absolutely throw him if they thought our bats wouldn't destroy his pitching. Trust me, they see how we're hitting right now and they still remember those 10 runs we blasted him for.

I don't see anything that really stands out. The ones sub 100 MPH were all down the line or gaps.

I think the announcers are greatly overstating how the ball is carrying. Batters are mashing.

I wonder why they even put him on the roster if they didn't plan to use him. I guess as a last-ditch option in game 5. Maybe he'll pitch in mop up duty when they're down 10 today.

Not necessarily. The last round of "juiced balls" apparently had lower seams, which meant that for the same exit velocity, they would carry farther.

At least Melvin has the sense not to use him. I'm sure Dusty would have tried him out there instead of Hendriks.

We all agree the juiced ball was used last year, right? The 2019 avg HR exit velo was 103.5.

I'd like to see us use the wild card formula today. Greinke go 5-6 innings, then Javier pitches the rest until he's ineffective

And I think the playoff ball was different last year. Balls we all thought "its gone" were warning track shots all during the playoffs.

I think the goal for ZG is 5 innings of 2 runs or less. Then turn it over to Javier for the 6-8th. Pressly 9th

It's playoff baseball so if he's not healthy enough to give you good 4-5 innings, then he doesn't need to be out there today IMO.

What I was referring to is a hit that with a regular season ball might have came off at 99mph with a 30' launch angle and be a normal pop fly....like the players are reacting and playing it in the outfield... is now instead coming off at 102 or whatever and having just enough carry to make it out.

I get what the metrics are saying but watch the outfielders, multiple of those hits they think they will be catching 15-20ft from the fence.

Grienke should be expected to go 5 innings...if not, leave him for an elimination game imho...
