apparently Bud Black did not like the chances of Reddick's hitting into a double play.

that was another option available to the Rockies. Walk Straw and hope for the GiDP.

All these players and coaches keep talking about the unwritten rules of baseball. The only unwritten rules that I think should really be in place is that a pitcher does not throw at a batter's head and a batter does not charge the mound with the bat. Basically, do not turn the tools of the game into an outright weapon.

A trade piece that could be interesting for this year that wouldn't cost a lot is Mitch Moreland. With Alvarez not healthy this year, he could be a serviceable DH and 1B when we need to give Yuli a day off.

He's having a decent season and his stats would actually put him as our team leader in a few of these categories.

He's pretty freaking cheap as well

and going back to J.D. Martinez...

if his contract expired after 2021, it would be worth a phone call to the Red Sox.

but his contract at $19 MM per year going thru the 2022 season...that's just too much salary risk

however the Astros are down to #23 in MLB in OPS at .710
